OVERVIEW
Our group has grown with the following meetings:
Monday Evening Fellowship started 8/2020
Prayer Meeting started 11/2020 (for a member in the hospital)
** This expanded into a Step 10-11-12 Meditation Meeting
Foundations Meeting started 2/1/2021
Sassy Sisters started 5/5/2021
Saturday Inspiration 8/7/2021
4th Step Workshop started 8/30/2021
The Foundations Meeting and 4th Step Workshop continue on the first and third Monday of each month, respectively. On other Mondays our zoom room is regularly open for fellowship time together.
Monday night fellowship
Pickles are People Too!!
We started opening the room on Monday nights for fellowship to get to know each other outside the meeting. This was our way of going out for coffee. Rick and Jamie would play guitars, share youtube videos, while we all laughed and talked together. We would have “storytime” with our local librarian as she held up a book in the screen and someone would read it.
Someone would say they were struggling with something and immediately we would drop everything, go to the book and find a solution. This became a weekly practice and we learned how to do 12th Step work together as a group. We grew to be a family this way. This is a practice that still continues, and now includes our Foundation Meeting and a 4th Step Workshop. This is where many of our members, who chose to, adopted Pickle Names, resulting in our meeting lovingly being referred to, in other meetings, as “The Pickle Group”
Lewisburg Primary Purpose Prayer meeting and Step 10 11 12 Meeting
In November, 2020 some of our members met in prayer for one of our homegroup members who was in the hospital for tests. We stayed after for a meeting together. This meeting evolved into our Step 10-11-12 Meditation Meeting that continues to meet on Friday evenings. The prayer gathering continues as members bring the God of their own understanding and we join together to pray for and with each other. After a 30 minute fellowship, we hold the Step 10-11-12 Meditation Meeting. In this meeting we read the Big Book, other A.A. Literature, or sometimes outside literature that aligns with the steps.
Sassy Sisters in Sobriety
Sassy Sisters in Sobriety is our ladies meeting on Wednesday nights. Each week has a different topic.
The first week of the month has a discussion on an article from the Grapevine Magazine. The second week is a stick meeting, where each of us gets her own topic to share on. The third week of the month is a speaker meeting, so we can get to know each other better. The fourth week has a reading from As Bill Sees It. When the month has a fifth week, we have a Foundations Meeting. The ladies in this meeting came together as friends in recovery, and we have grown to be true spiritual sisters, bonding in love and recovery, resulting in family.
Saturday Inspiration Meeting
The Saturday Inspiration Meeting started as an idea for a non- A.A. meeting where we could all bring the God of our own understanding, no matter who or what that looks like to each individual. We open with a prayer and read On Awakening, from the Big Book pages 86-88, and a 7 minute inspirational video for meditation. Everyone is free to share whatever inspires them, whether it is conference approved literature, daily meditation books, biblical passages, etc. This is a place where we get to share what and who our God is with each other.
It is a place where we can inspire each other and grow together as God’s children. The only requirement is to be open minded and accepting of each other’s views. Many of us have had spiritual awakenings or experiences during this meeting.
fourth step workshop
The 4th Step Workshop is a presentation of the 4th Step as laid out in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It is presented in a slide show with detailed information. We encourage questions during the workshop to clarify information as needed. We present all aspects of the 4th Step: resentments, the cause, “effects my”, our 4th column.
We take a very close look with detailed instruction at the seven areas of self, and the fears that go with that, as well as the sex inventory and the harms we have done. Everything is covered in full detail from page 61-72. In this process we are always asking God to show us the truth of our own history. We use the prayers and the actions, that are laid out in the Big Book and we find the promises that are the result of the actions. This is the beginning of forgiveness and healing.
We record this presentation. It is available through our website. www.lppbbsgaa.org
Dover Meetings
The Beginner Step Series and The Dover By the Book Meditation Meeting were started by Rick W in April 2020. He continued running these meetings along with his work in LPPBBSG until his death in November 2021. At that time, LPPBBSG continued the meetings. On May 1, 2022 the meetings officially moved into the LPPBBSG room as Lewisburg Primary Purpose Beginner Step Series and Lewisburg Primary Purpose By the Book Meditation Meeting. The meeting has not changed from Rick’s format.
