This is an audio recorded 90 minute meeting for our website and podcast.

Our Big Book study has a very structured format.  It includes a 3 minute meditation, our family’s Foglight prayer, and a weekly Secretary Report including our Recovered Statement, welcoming of anyone new, identification of recovered alcoholics as potential sponsors, virtual chips, meeting information, and 7th Tradition information.  We also have a Traditionalist share on a weekly tradition.  Each week the Traditionalist shares some research and some individual experience of how that week’s tradition works in the group.

We have added a weekly segment of “That Ain’t in the Book”  based on the fact that we hear a lot of stuff said in meetings that can’t be reconciled with the program as described in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. (ie: There are no musts in the book) We share some of the things we often hear in meetings, along with what the Big Book actually has to say on the subject.  We include the page and paragraph/sentence where this can be found.

We have a quick explanation of “how we got here” with  an overview of the prior weeks.

We move into the study portion of the meeting by reading a recap of the last week’s study, followed by the study for the current week.  We then return to the current week study and read line-by-line in a question and answer format.  The answers all come directly out of the Big Book, line by line.  After the study is complete we open for questions, comments, observations, experience, and spiritual experiences on the information we just studied.

Our first podcast was March 30, 2021 starting in the chapter “To Wives”  This was week 62 of the study.

Our study runs for a total of 93 weeks.  It starts on the title page and ends on page 164.  We include Dr. Bob’s Nightmare which includes a questions format, and a 2 week study and questions on the Traditions.  There are 3 different times in the first few chapters that we visit and study Appendix II, The Spiritual Experience, also with the question format.

Our Big Book Study regularly has between 25-35 people in attendance.  Those regularly participating are from  the US and Canada.  There are many opportunities for service and participation in this meeting as we present the study, before opening for discussion.  These positions are rotated regularly.   We have also had participants from the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Australia, and Brazil.
